Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 2025

Overview :

This Privacy Policy explains how ShopLocal Business, operated by Framz Limited ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use our website and mobile applications (Customer and Seller apps).

We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and other applicable laws.

Who is responsible for your data? :

Framz Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, except where a seller acts as an independent controller for data they process for their own purposes (for example, to fulfil an order).

Personal data we collect :

The personal data we collect depends on how you use our platform.

  • Account data: name, email, phone number, password (for account access), and basic profile details you provide.
  • Order data: items ordered, order notes (if any), order value, delivery/collection choice, and order status.
  • Address data: delivery or collection address details you submit for fulfilment (where relevant).
  • Location data: approximate or precise location data (including GPS coordinates) when you choose to enable location services for searching nearby businesses or when you set a delivery location and map pin for order fulfilment.
  • Support data: messages you send to support, complaint details, and related order references.
  • Website form data: details you submit via "Subscribe" and "Subscribe for your store" forms.
  • Device & usage data: app/website usage events, device identifiers (where provided by the platform), IP address, and performance/diagnostic data.
Payment data (Stripe) :

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card details. We may receive payment-related information such as transaction references, payment status, and the last 4 digits / card brand where provided by Stripe, to manage orders, refunds, and fraud prevention.

How we use your personal data :
  • To provide the service: create accounts, enable sellers to list products, enable customers to place orders, and track order status.
  • To communicate with you: order updates, service messages, and responses to your enquiries.
  • To process refunds and resolve disputes: investigate issues and administer refunds where approved.
  • To improve the platform: analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • To send marketing (where permitted): for example newsletters for users who subscribe. You can opt out any time.
  • To comply with law: record-keeping, fraud prevention, and responding to lawful requests.
Location data and map features :

Our mobile applications may use location data where you choose to enable location services.

  • To help customers discover nearby businesses based on their current location or a location they select.
  • To support delivery fulfilment by allowing customers to set a delivery address and map pin (latitude/longitude) for drop-off.

Location services are optional and can be disabled through your device settings. We do not track your location in the background.

Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR) :

We rely on one or more of the following legal bases, depending on the situation:

  • Contract: to provide the platform and process orders.
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep records or respond to lawful requests.
  • Legitimate interests: to improve and secure our platform, prevent fraud, and operate our business.
  • Consent: for optional marketing, certain cookies/analytics (where required), and accessing precise location data where you choose to enable location services on your device.
Who we share data with :

We do not sell your personal data. We share personal data only where we use service providers, they act under our instructions and are required to protect your data.

  • Sellers: to fulfil and manage your order, including order items, contact details, and delivery address or map pin details provided by you.
  • Stripe: to process payments, manage authorisations/captures, and process refunds.
  • Email service: AWS SES to send service and subscription emails.
  • Analytics & diagnostics: Google Analytics 4 (website analytics) and Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring (apps).
  • Legal/Compliance: regulators, courts, law enforcement, or advisers where required.
Automated decision-making :

We do not use your personal data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

International transfers :

Some of our service providers (for example, Stripe and Google services such as Firebase/GA4) may process personal data outside the UK. Where this happens, we use appropriate safeguards required under UK GDPR (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms).

How long we keep your data :

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, tax, accounting, or reporting requirements. For example, some transaction-related records may need to be retained for several years to meet legal obligations. For example, we may retain order and payment-reference records to handle disputes, prevent fraud, and meet accounting or legal requirements.

Security :

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights (UK GDPR) :

You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and request portability of your data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

To exercise your rights, email us at contact@shoplocalbusiness.co.uk with your name, the email/phone linked to your account, and your request.

Cookies and analytics on our website :

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for functionality and analytics, including Google Analytics 4. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and (where applicable) cookie preference controls.
